History

PT Krakatau Semen Indonesia (KSI) is a joint venture company established by two state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in Indonesia, namely PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (KS), which is the first and integrated steel producer in Indonesia, and PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), the largest building material producer in Indonesia.

Founded in December 2013, KSI is the first GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) producer in Indonesia with an annual production capacity of 690,000 tons. The raw material used for GGBFS is residual material from the steel smelting process with Blast Furnace technology, making GGBFS an environmentally friendly material due to its use of non-natural minerals.

KSI's first domestic sales of GGBFS were made in April 2018, and the first export sales were conducted in May 2019 with a tonnage of 30,000 metric tons. GGBFS distribution by KSI is done in several ways, including small bags of 25kg, bulk in 30-ton quantities, jumbo bags of 1 ton, and bulk via vessels of 10,000-30,000 tons. The target market for KSI's GGBFS products includes cement and mortar manufacturers, ready mix companies, and precast companies.

KSI is committed to preserving the environment and producing the highest quality GGBFS products as a sustainable building material for green construction in the future.
